Celebrating the Designs of Ferdinand Alexander Porsche

At Bert Smith Porsche in St. Petersburg, Florida we think the work of Ferdinand Alexander Porsche defines some of the best in product design. Notice we didn't limit him to just automotive design, i.e. his vision and creation of the iconic Porsche 911. In fact, F.A. Porsche's design prowess extended far beyond the curves and contours of sports cars. Some of his more off-beat work included designs for:

  • Eyeglasses
  • Lounge chairs
  • Writing utensils
  • Pipes
  • A motorcycle concept
  • And even a grand piano

To celebrate the creative work of the great visionary and the founding of the Porsche Design Studio in 1972, the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart, Germany is holding a special exhibition from now until February 17th, 2013.

Focusing on the Porsche Design brand, which over the past few years has become one of the world's leading luxury brands complete with its own sales network, the exhibition will feature many of Porsche's classic accessories and other products. From watches, eyeglasses and writing tools to industrial products and household appliances, products created under the Porsche Design banner will be on display in the venerated Stuttgart facility.

With 40 years worth of design work on display, we recommend anybody visiting the area of Stuttgart make the Porsche Museum part of their itinerary. Can't make it to Germany by February 17th? You can still view some of F.A. Porsche's masterwork by coming down to 3800 34th Street North and exploring our Porsche showroom. We're happy to answer any questions you have, discuss your Porsche financing options, and even explain the benefits of protecting your next exotic car through our onsite car service and repair department.
